Introduction: High end development of an old manor house in Dublin into 4 refurbished apartments and 5 new build houses in the grounds.
Remit: The developer wanted NZEB rated dwellings. For this, we designed supplied and installed an ASHP system with MEV ventilation. It took all our knowledge gained on previous jobs and in particular the Lancaster Park Passivhus site to allow us to achieve an NZEB rating. As we have learned, the renovation of existing buildings in particular offer great potential for climate protection in the future.
The system that we used in this project attains an A+++ efficiency technology. The outdoor unit can operate in temperatures as low as -25°C. It is also equipped with a super intuitive user interface with the homeowner being able to control on an app or control system at anytime from anywhere.
We decided to use a wall mounted unit. It doesn’t require side clearance and is easy and flexible to install. The unit extracts up to 75% of its energy in the outside air to provide heating, cooling and hot water, while the rest is provided by electricity.
The apartments within the manor house challenged us on a design and installation perspective trying to install the ASHP outdoor unit with the space restrictions and the ASHP and UFH and ventilation systems with the onsite conditions lead us to be very intuitive in our choice of materials and workmanship to achieve the NZEB rated dwellings.
