Introduction: NZEB large new build dwelling from Four Seven Ltd. This low energy housing design required expert knowledge on the energy efficient technology that could be used in such as house.
Remit: The brief for us was to design, supply and install a heating and ventilation system with 3 different mixed temperature circuits to all for 3 different zones within the house
- High temperature hot water
- Lower ground floor partly underground
- Ground floor open glass fronted
The system that we decided to use allowed us to create a comfortable and efficient heating system using weather compensation and outdoor and cylinder temperature sensors. Due to the size of the house we had to think outside the box and we used 2 MVHR units in 2 zones to allow for the underground zone and glass fronted zones.
The highly efficient mechanical ventilation heat recovery unit has a thermal efficiency of more than 82.3%. The energy consumption of this system is up to 30% lower than comparable MCVR systems.
With energy ratings of A++ the heat pump that we installed provides cost-effective and environmentally responsible heating. It is also very quiet. The ASHP with a monobloc design are characterized by separation into an indoor unit and an outdoor unit, with water-carrying connection lines.
